If that’s not possible, a secure lockbox at the property is a reliable alternative. Both options provide convenience for guests and peace of mind for you.


Q. Do you take photos for the hosts?

We do not provide photography services ourselves, but we highly recommend using a professional real estate photographer—and we’re happy to refer trusted pros who specialize in vacation rental photography. Q. Do you collect payment from the guest?
A.  No, ShoreSummerRentals.com does not collect any payments from guests. All rental payments are made directly to you, the host—ensuring a transparent and commission-free transaction. We do not act as a middleman or process payments on your behalf. This direct booking model helps you keep 100% of your rental income while allowing guests to avoid third-party fees.


Q: Do you issue 1099 forms for tax reporting?
A: No, ShoreSummerRentals.com does not issue 1099 forms. Since all payments are made directly between the guest and the host, we do not process transactions and therefore do not have access to your rental income details. As a host, it’s your responsibility to track and report your earnings to the IRS or your tax professional. We recommend maintaining accurate records and consulting a qualified tax advisor for guidance.


Q. What payment types/terms do you recommend for bookings.
A. We recommend the following payment structure and methods to protect both hosts and guests while maintaining flexibility:

A.  Most of our hosts do not offer refunds for guest cancellations. To help protect both your rental income and your guests’ investment, we’ve partnered with Nationwide Travel Insurance through Rental Guardian, a trusted leader in vacation rental protection.

Travel Insurance Option for Guests:

Q. Do you offer rental liability insurance?
A. ShoreSummerRentals.com does not provide rental liability insurance directly. However, in most cases, your existing homeowners policy should offer sufficient liability coverage for your rental activities. Despite what other platforms may suggest, you typically do not need to purchase an additional $1 million policy just to host guests.

That said, we always recommend reaching out to your insurance agent to:

  • Ensure your policy covers short-term rentals

Option 2: Collect a Refundable Security Deposit

If any portion is withheld, you must provide a detailed written explanation, including documentation such as photos or receipts, within 30 days of guest departure Failure to comply will result in your listing being suspended without refund

A. No, ShoreSummerRentals.com does not coordinate cleanings between guests. As with most direct booking platforms (unless you're using a full-service property management company), it is the host’s responsibility to hire and manage cleaning services for rental turnovers.

We recommend working with a dependable, professional cleaner who can:

  • Provide photos of the property after each cleaning, especially if damages or excessive messes are found
