Great condo

We rented the first floor. Fantastic condo. The owner (Kathy) was a pleasure to deal with. Condo was very clean. We had 8 people and had more than enough room. The location was excellent. We would definitely stay here again.

Great week!

We had an awesome week! Owner was very nice to deal with and even let us get in a little early because our unit was ready! We stayed on the 1st floor. Having 10 in our group, we still had plenty of room! It was very spacious and clean with a nice sized deck on the front! This year we even brought our dog with us! I have to say that she loved the dog park!!! The location was ideal and was so close to the beach with the dog park being right there! We definitely want to rent this house again next summer!

PLEASE Read for Senior Weeks/Prom Weekend Rentals

Prior to our stay, Kathy and John provided great insight on their property and were willing to work with my friends and me when it came to the pricing, payments, and arrival time of our rental.
During our stay, the house was found to be pretty clean (minus dust on the kitchen and bathroom floors which didn't seem to be swept), which is always good.

But, AFTER we signed our contract (months before our stay), it was brought up to us that these rental houses have security guards and require all people staying in the houses to give their full names to the security guards and wear colored wristbands. While it is understandable that these guards instill safety for both the renters and property, my friends and I (all girls) felt very uneasy at the fact that a (male) security guard had access to our house and would question us about what we were doing and where we were going. One night, a guard randomly walked in our house (without knocking,) walked in one of the rooms, and said he wanted to see one of the girls who was sleeping. While we didn't want to cause any trouble, we just assumed that he was allowed to do this and just kept the door locked from that point on. We had no complaints or behavioral problems during our stay, yet all of us agreed that we did not like the fact that these security guards can have this sense of power while WE were the ones renting the house.

In the end, Kathy and John failed to detail in our contract the fact that (male) security guards would be able to "check in" on us during our stay; and if I knew that ahead of time I probably would not have rented this property because of the level of discomfort and unease it made us AND our parents feel.

I am not sure if the security guards are used for family rentals but if you are a group of teenagers who are looking to rent for Senior Weeks or Prom Weekends, these houses will work great as long as you do not mind the fact that NO WHERE on their website or contract does it say that security guards and wristbands are required for your stay. Personally, our group felt weirded out and watched over like we were children on a field trip- we are 18. While not all students can be trusted, we were just a group of girls looking for a safe and trustworthy place to stay for the weekend.

Lastly, the website says we would receive our security deposit back in two weeks, and our contract said three weeks. But in reality, it took just about two MONTHS for us to receive our deposit back. After nagging Kathy for it, she kept urging me to wait a few more days, and it never came. Also, an automatic $150 came out of our deposit to cover cleaning fees, even though we left the house cleaner than we found it. While I understand the house must be cleaned by professionals, it was never brought up to us that we would lose money from our deposit to cover it. And to point out, all rentals in Wildwood are overpriced, but you would think the money to clean the house would come out of the other $2,500 it cost to rent it.

First of all, I would like to thank you for renting our condo and I’m sorry your stay was not as pleasant as you had hoped. In response to this review, I would like to say that we make a practice of notifying our groups of young adults that we use a security guard and issue bracelets. We are always upfront with our potential renters. We do our best to work with young groups to ensure that they have a good vacation and things remain calm. We are required by the town of Wildwood to ensure that young groups behave in a reasonable and responsible manner. The security guards typically check in daily with our renters at 8:00 PM when they come on duty. They should never go into a place without permission unless there is an emergency situation (e.g. a large number of people, a physical fight, etc ). You were told, as all of our renters are, that if anything like this occurs that you should notify us immediately. Had that been the case, we would have dealt with this issue promptly. As an aside, the guard involved here no longer works with us. As far as not returning your security check in a timely manner, our practice is to return security deposits within three weeks of the end of the rental date, along with a written explanation of any deductions. I mailed out your security deposit on May 30, 2018 (less than then the three weeks). I assumed that you received it. When you called saying that you hadn’t, I explained that I had sent it out and to please give it a few more days. I told you if you didn’t receive it to call me back and I would put a “stop payment” on that check and reissue another check. When I heard from you again, I did just that and reissued another check on June 23, 2018. This was an unfortunate instance but none of us can control things occasionally being misplaced in the mail. I rectified the situation and you received your deposit back. As far as keeping a cleaning fee, that is not always the case. The contract states that you must leave the house as you found it. The house needed to be cleaned. If that wasn’t the case, there would not have been a charge for it. We do our best to operate within the confines of what the city requires us to do in maintaining order with young groups, including occupancy limits (and hence the requisite wristbands). We do apologize if the security person overstepped his bounds, as we do not support the type of activity detailed in this complaint and we appreciate it being brought to our attention. I would like to reiterate that the security guard no longer works for us.
